On March 8th the world celebrates international Women’s Day.
This annual event is designed to celebrate the achievements of women across the globe.
The theme for 2021 is ‘choose to challenge’.
Women all over the world have been encouraged to challenge things we think are wrong with gender bias and inequality.
England is still going to be under lockdown restrictions for International Women’s Day (IWD), but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate.
Here are 5 ways you can celebrate safely:
1 – Write a letter to the woman who inspires you.
I personally believe that a handwritten letter is one of the best forms of communication.
It seems more personal and meaningful than a text or email.
If you can’t see the women who inspire you the most this IWD, write them a letter.
They could be your mum, your daughter, a work colleague, a friend or even a celebrity who you haven’t even met.
Write them a letter explaining why they inspire you.
2 – Send a gift
If you are able to, send your inspirational woman a gift.
It could be something small, like a box of their favourite chocolates, or something big if you want to.
Let them know that they mean a lot to you, and that they have a big impact on your life.
It will feel amazing for both you and the,
3 – Treat yourself
International Women’s Day isn’t just about celebrating the women who you look up to, but yourself.
Make yourself feel good by treating yourself to something nice.
It could be buying a pair of shoes that you have had your eyes on for a while, cooking your favourite meal, or something simple like allowing yourself an extra 10 minutes in the bath.
4 – Celebrate your body
We all have struggles with our own body image.
One day we could think we look great, the next everything has changed.
The fact is all of our bodies are amazing.
They get us out of bed in the morning, complete tasks all day long and do so much more!
We literally couldn’t exist without them so they need some love.
On IWD wear your favourite outfit and do your hair and make up as you love it to make yourself feel great.
5 – Have some self care
If you are like me, your self care has really suffered over the past year.
With nowhere to go I haven’t been motivated to look after myself.
My skin could do with a deep moisturise and I don’t even want to mention what my nails look like.
On IWD, take some time to care for yourself, file and paint your nails, dye your hair and do all of the other things you have forgotten about during lockdown.
