All the positive things about zoom burlesque classes

By January 5, 2021 No Comments

Sadly it looks like we won’t be returning to ‘normal’ life any time soon. With another national lockdown announced, it may be some time before we can all be in the same room shimmying together. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t still fill your life with all of the sparkles, glamour and fabulousness that burlesque has to offer. Love You Burlesque has evolved with the times, and is offering zoom burlesque classes.

Although nothing will match the joy that an ‘in the flesh’ class will bring, zoom burlesque classes are still amazing fun.

Here are all of the amazing positives to a virtual burlesque class:

1 – No facing the cold

Anyone who has attended a burlesque class between November and February will understand just how cold it can be. Heading out in your fishnets, hot pants and bras in subzero temperatures really can be a test of commitment. The thought of having to layer up, to only take it all off when you get to class can sometimes put you off a little. However, with zoom classes you don’t even have to think about the temperature outside. Before your class you can strip down to whatever you want and not have to worry about getting freezing cold.

2 – Getting moving

Keeping yourself moving during lockdown is really important. It’s very easy to spend the whole evening on the sofa in front of the telly. Again, with the winter weather, it is hard to get the motivation to go outside to exercise. Signing up to a burlesque zoom class means for at least 40 minutes a week you are going to be moving your body.

3 – Social interaction

Socialising in person is all but banned now. We can’t meet up with friends, and there are only so many virtual quizzes you can do with your family. A huge part of Love You Burlesque is the social side and the sisterhood you are introduced to. Classes, both in person and online offer you the chance to get to know all sorts of women. You will never be left without something to talk about because you can always talk about burlesque!

4 – Easy to get over the nerves

If you have been wanting to try a burlesque class for a while, but are a bit worried about walking into a studio not knowing anyone, a zoom class could be the perfect option. Of course, you will still be meeting strangers for the first time, but it eases the pressure for some. You will soon find out that there is no need to worry as everyone is lovely and you will be instantly made to feel welcome.

5 – No having to drive in a corset

I think most of us have made this mistake once. Trust me when I say that driving in a corset is not a good idea and really shouldn’t be done. I love a corset, but driving in one is not comfortable. It is hard to move when you are sat upright, so not great for driving. Of course, doing your burlesque class from your home means you don’t have to drive anywhere.

6 – Earlier nights

Personally I don’t like to eat before dancing or exercising, it doesn’t make me feel very well. Taking part in an online class means that you don’t have to factor in any travel time. This means as soon as your class is over you are done and free to have dinner, jump in a shower, or just chill out before bed.

7 – More opportunities to learn

Love You Burlesque covers quite a large area of Essex and Hertfordshire.

Every single tutor is amazing, but most of us will choose to go to our closest class as it just makes sense.

However, distance isn’t an issue when it comes to online classes. We will running 2-3 classes a week in 4 week blocks.  Starting tomorrow with the fabulous Ruby Blue. This also means that you may be able to dance on a different night than usual, or more than once a week if you wish.

8 – It costs less

Let’s be completely honest, most of us have had to watch our money more in the past year than usual. With furlough and job losses all over the place, any chance to save money is helpful. Thankfully Love You Burlesque’s zoom classes have a significant discount to in person classes.

9 – Fantastic for your mental well being

January is well known for being a very hard month for mental well being, and a lockdown is bound to make it even tougher. We all know that exercise is a great way to help. Being part of a community as supportive as Love You Burlesque will also help keep your spirits up.

10 – A chance to glam up

I for one have really missed dressing up this year. I think I can probably count the times I have worn makeup since last spring on one hand, whereas I usually wear it everyday. One of my favourite things about Love You Burlesque is there are no rules on what you can and can’t wear. Your weekly zoom class is a great chance to glam yourself up if you want to. Alternatively you can wear your comfiest leggings and t-shirt or whatever else you wish – there really are no rules.

I hope this has helped you decide whether or not an online burlesque class is for you.

If I was to give any advice it would be if you are at all thinking of giving it a go – do it, you won’t regret it.

Stay safe and keep sparkling,

Magenta x
